The Daniel Boone Homestead (DBH) offers many great recreational opportunities for you, your family
and friends! Hiking & Bridle Trails The property has an extensive network of bridle trails for equestrians and their horses. Walkers and hikers may use these bridle trails, take advantage of the paved roads around the historical site, or enjoy the short walking trail around Daniel Boone Lake, a man-made lake that serves as a nesting place for numerous varieties of waterfowl. Use of these trails is free-of-charge. Visitors interested in walking on the gravel paths that wind through the Historic Area must visit the Visitor Center prior to entering and will be charged a $3 historic grounds fee. There are three designated picnic areas at the DBH, perfect for family reunions, scout groups and company picnics:
(1) The Picnic Grove is located near the Sawmill (#10 on the Historic Area Map). This area is free-of-charge and does not require reservations. (2) The North Picnic Area includes two pavilions, one with 5 tables and the other with 8 tables.* (3) The South Picnic Area includes two pavilions, each with 6 tables.* *North and South Picnic Areas have access to water and pit toilets, and require both registration and a fee. Camping There are several group camping opportunities at the DBH: |

(1) The Wayside Lodge has two bunkrooms, each with their own bathroom (no shower included), and 11 beds (22 total). The Lodge also includes a kitchen with a handicap accessible bathroom, and a common room with a large fireplace and space for sleeping on the floor. Additionally, tents can be set up around the lodge to sleep additional campers.
(2) The North and South Tenting Areas include pavilions with picnic tables, pit toilets, and accessible water. The South Tenting Area is slightly larger.
